PARC promotes the acquisition, development, maintenance
and enhancement of open space, parks, and recreation and
community facilities in the greater Santa Barbara area as
being essential to a healthful urban environment. PARC
encourages innovation in the development of programs
and facilities that may not ordinarily be supported by
government resources and fosters the more effective
delivery of leisure services and opportunities.

The PARC Foundation was incorporated 1n 1994 to serve
the community primarily by:
Developing partnerships and coalitions that provide funding and other resources for parks, recreational areas, programs, facilities and other related special projects or events.
-
Sponsoring and holding funds for many community groups and programs that support our mission. These organizations benefit from PARC’s tax exempt status in applying for grants and accepting donations. PARC does not charge for these services.
-
Engaging in special projects – both short and long term. Currently PARC is spearheading a collaborative effort to acquire the National Guard Armory site for community use. Previous projects include Kid’s World in Alameda Park and Skaters Point in Chase Palm Park.
